I created this website to help people connect and share their stories of Victoria Cross recipients and their families.
We all read the stories of these gallant recipients but what we don’t read is the stories after they have won the medal and how these people affected their families and the places they lived.
Some people, like myself, have stories of relatives who have won the Victoria Cross and have tales of their exploits.
Over time families drift apart and documents and information get lost or just forgotten, but with this website I hope to allow families to share their stories of these brave men and women and recover information from other sources and family members.
My family and I have personal experience of this as my great granddad, Private Ernest Sykes, was a Victoria Cross recipient for his heroic exploits in Word War 1. This story, like many others, can be found on the internet and in books, however what is not widely known is my great granddad had multiple trains named after him, with one being made into a model by Hornby.
These small details are one of the reasons why I created this website, to allow families to tell the more detailed stories of the recipients life.
If you would like to have a story told on this website, please contact us and we will be happy to help you. This service is all free to honour our gallant heroes.
